I offer private lessons to horse enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Regardless of your experience I can help you improve your skills and achieve your goals.
For those who do not own a horse, I provide well trained, well mannered horses who are happy and eager to do their jobs. Some are trained Western, some English, and some are both. They are more than lesson hacks whose only mission in life is to go in circles around an arena. These horses have been in the show ring, on trails, in the back country, the mountains, and the ocean. They have had many experiences in their lives, which helps to make them trustworthy and build their rider's confidence.

Introducing Sheena, a fully interactive Dressage Simulator. Don't let the name fool you. Sheena is programmed through 4th level Dressage, but can be ridden English or Western. She has bit sensors, head, neck, seat and leg sensors and can show you in real time, how you are riding. She comes complete with two practice arenas, Dressage tests, 4000 acres to ride at the beach, the forest the lake, the city, and the zoo. For those who wish to have their riding skills evaluated, there is also a 1 minute and 2 minute riding test, complete with a printed read out at the end of the test.
Sheena is one of 6 simulators used for lessons in North America but the only one in the Pacific NW and specifically Washington state. The transition for a beginning rider to a real horse is straight across. The only difference is the actual forward movement.

As a Certified Horsemanship Association instructor I am rated to teach both English and Western. I have done a variety of horse related activities in my life, from showing to trail riding, to gaming, overnight camping, to competitive trail. I am happy to teach those skills to you. I teach from the ground up. If you have been riding, we will work on finding and filling in the gaps.
I recommend that students be at least 4 years of age, prior to beginning lessons. Everyone matures at a different rate which is why I don't like listing a chronological age. My youngest student started at 3.5.
Prior to scheduling lessons, I invite prospective clients to the ranch to meet me, see my facility, and to discuss goals. Meetings usually take between 15 and 30 minutes and gives all of us the opportunity to assess one another to see if will be a match. If you like what you see we can discuss putting you on the lesson schedule.
Slick soled riding boots, with a minimum of a 1/2" defined heel are recommended. No tennis shoes, hiking or barn boots are permitted for riding.
Pants should be full length comfortably fitting jeans, or riding breeches. No sweat pants, shorts, or workout pants.
A comfortably fitting shirt with short or long sleeves, depending on the weather. No tank tops or crop tops.
A comfortably fitting coat for cooler weather.
It is recommended that long hair be tied back at the nape of the neck.
Riding helmets are mandatory when sitting on top of a horse. I provide them for those who do not have one. It is recommended that no beads, or hair clips be worn under helmets for the safety and protection of the rider.
